Jun 15, 2012 · at least for me, the main problem is the RPMs dropping so low, which causes a rough idle. i cant imagine what the trans mount would have to do with RPMs. But Ill be replacing my trans mount this weekend for a custom crossmember, so ill be able to rule that out here shortly. After doing this I got a very rough idle at startup. My rpms will dip below 400 rpms and then fluctuate back and forth between 100 and 500 rpms. The car almost sounds as if it will stall but it doesnt. After a few minutes the idle will "fix itself" and hover at around 600 rpms. The missing fender theory is a likely cause of your problem. The Z airflow meters are very susceptible to turbulence and that can cause the idle to dip abnormally low and can even cause stalling. If you do switch to a POP charger filter, make sure that you reinstall the plastic tray that fits under the stock air intake box. Hi There, It sounds like you may have a dirty or failing idle air control valve. The idle air control valve monitors the air intake as it is mixed with fuel prior to being injected into the engine at low speeds and at idle. Dec 28, 2011 · I've got a 2007 Silverado 2500HD 6.0 Vortec with a PO300 random misfire/rough idle issue. 150k miles on the truck. I've read most threads on the subject (much appreciation!), and will try some more solutions today. The truck runs rough at idle, though smoothes out as the rpm's rise. One time, it did completely misfire and limped back to my shop. May 28, 2017 · The problems I am having is rough idle and slight RPM drops. The rough idle is very obvious while in drive at a stop light, when it neutral is drops off a bit but you can still feel vibration, in park it's the same as neutral. Of course the RPM drop is in sync with the rough idle. Sometimes the RPMs will drop below 500 in a kind of rhythm ...

I have a rough idle that started out of the blue. 04 excursion with 6.0. went out to start it one morning and it was a sluggish low rpm gross start. It used to fire right up like a champ and had the usually chug that smooths out once all the sensors sync up. Now besides the sluggish start it does not smooth out.
You may have a misfire, a vacuum leak, or a clogged/faulty idle air control valve. It could be a couple other things, too, but those are the most common and first things you should explore. In order to increase the idle RPM, the control module will command the valve pintle to move away from its seat, allowing more air to bypass the throttle plate. To decrease RPM, the control module commands the IAC pintle to move closer to its seat, causing a lower airflow to bypass the throttle plate. Mar 28, 2012 · I have a really rough/missfiring idle, it seems to go away over 1500 RPM, but the car idles terribly at startup and gets no better when it is up to temp, it is bad enough to cause it to occasionally stall. I have tested everything you can test, and replaced everything you cant. Getting no computer codes besides uneven idle. Misfires can occur at idle, when the engine is pulling hard under load, at high rpm and during throttle transitions as the air/fuel mixture changes. A few misfires are to be expected under these conditions, and should cause no major performance problems or significant increase in emissions. Check the Pig Tail connection to the AIR IDLE CONTROL Sensor. This will impact the IDLE if the connection is bad - This will cause spike and low idling if the four prongs are wired wrong or not making proper connections. ABCD AB is Coil 1 and CD is Coil 2. My best guess is that the factor idle setting is too low and the electronic ignition is fighting against the torque converter.. also, keep in mind that these cars are tow rated, so then will have a crappy performance below 3k RPM.. Predator will fix that for sure by giving you more low end response and torque. Buy a shirt and support the channel! A large drop from Unloaded to In-gear idle setting can otherwise usually be attributed to either a vacuum leak or a convertor that's to 'tight' for the engine set-up... Everett#2390
You start the engine cold and it will hardly run. It runs rough and idles very low and will even quit a few times. You may also notice that your ABS light comes on. After the engine warms up idle speed will increase and the engine may smooth out (although acceleration may have some hesitation until the engine gets real hot.
